So Frustrated

SA Boat Trailers

A keen fisherman came to me with a problem. Despite best efforts with his nearly new trailer, he was unable to shift his 5.8m fibre glass boat on the trailer without significant use of winches and other equipment. When launching…no launch was possible without using significant braking to jolt his boat into the water. Often fishing on his own, this was presenting serious problems — not the least was the chance of something going wrong.

He was very frustrated because he had recently purchased a new trailer with a full multi-roller configuration — thinking this was what was required. He decided to come to SPITFIRE for a solution.
Utilising our SPITFIRE design philosophy that simplicity Is best, we offered him our basic design — and bunk and keel-slide configuration. This design offers a wide and safe target area on approach. Two curved VEEs have been provided to assist his drive-on retrieval and handling of the boat mostly on his own. SPITFIRE Trailer keel slides are made from our uniquely moulded HDPE and are designed for extremely low frictional resistance. They are also absolutely compatible with fibreglass or aluminium hulls.

The result has been spectacular for our Client. Not only can he push the boat on the trailer on his own even when on the level… his launch is achieved with a simple hand push and his retrieval is safe and secure.
